Dr Vanni Pettina was a Visiting Research Student at LSE IDEAS from the Institute of History at the Humanities and Social Sciences Centre, CSIC, Madrid.
He graduated in Political Sciences at the University of Florence, Italy (2004). He received his Masters Degree in Latin American Studies from the Universidad Complutense-Ortega y Gasset Research Institute, Madrid, Spain (2006). He has also been a research fellow at Georgetown University in Washington, at the Instituto de Investigación y Docencia Económica (CIDE) in Mexico City and at the IDEAS Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science.
He completed his PhD at the Institute of History at the Humanities and Social Sciences Centre, CSIC, Madrid where he works with the Comparative Studies Team on Caribbean and Atlantic World (GECCMA, www.reccma.es|), and is undertaking studies on Political History of International Relations in the twentieth century. His research is mainly focused on the political relations between USA and Latin America, with special attention to the interaction between American foreign policy and Cuban nationalism at the outset of the Cold War.
