Two hundred years after Latin American countries gained their independence, the challenges of peace and security in Latin America are matters of deep concern requiring urgent attention and study.The Latin America International Affairs Programme with the help of the LSE Alumni Annual Fund is hosting an events series on International Peace and Security in Latin America (IPSLA). The series will examine the prospects for international peace and security in Latin America as the region embarks on its third century of independence and how the international community might engage more meaningfully with Latin America on issues such as disarmament, migration, economic development, the transnational drug trade and regional integration.
