Research within this cluster is examining the factors behind the very significant differences in the local patterns of social care services provision in England using local authority-level data.
Among the range of factors examined are levels of need, local supply factors, local political control and historical local systemic policy preferences. Other analyses are examining variations in local levels of expenditure, balance of care, and their impact on the health care sector.
