Dr Michael Clark worked in Higher Education undertaking research in education and business studies, including his PhD, for several years before moving into the NHS and health research and research management in 1998.
Since then he has worked as a research manager in a PCT, working successfully with local partners to develop a locality wide research and evidence aware culture. He then worked for Department of Health Research and Development (R&D) as National Portfolio Manager for Mental Health R&D, before moving to NIMHE and CSIP as research manager for both organisations.
For the last two years Dr Clark worked for the West Midlands SHA and the National Mental Health Development Unit, undertaking work on developing and improving care pathways for the Care Cluster model (being used for Payment by Results in mental health), and working on public mental health and health promotion. Throughout this work he has sought to be an effective broker across research, policy and practice.
