Malinowski Memorial Lecture
Date: Thursday 25 May 2006
Time: 6.00pm
Venue: Old Theatre, Old Building
Speaker: Professor David Graeber
Chair: Professor Olivia Harris
While the idea that there is an intrinsic connection between knowledge and power is a gratifying one to academics, David Graeber will analyse the relation between ignorance/stupidity and power: the radical simplification of human life and the lopsided structures of the imagination that result from forms of inequality backed by violence.
David Graeber is associate professor at Yale University. He is author of Towards an Anthropological Theory of Value and Fragments of an Anarchist Anthropology.
This event is free and open to all with no ticket required. Entry is on a first come, first served basis.
