Due to OFCOM regulatory changes in relation to the use of 0870 numbers, the LSE has decided to change the telephone number used for friends and family to call student rooms. The current number 0870 0366666 will be changing to 0844 550 6666. The new number is already operational and we recommend you ask callers to start using it straight away. The old number will be in service until 25th March 2008. Calls to 0844 numbers are a lower rate than to 0870 numbers in the UK. The standard BT rate to call the new 0844 number is 5p + VAT per minute, whereas the rate to call the 0870 number was previously 6.73p per minute + VAT. Call rates from outside the UK to the 0844 number are determined by the local network in the country of origin, over which LSE has no control." We regret having to change the number part way through the academic year, but we hope the period of dual operation up to the 25th March will give everyone time to make friends and family aware of the new number.
