LSE held Chinese New Year Party at the Parliament

On the 23rd Jan (Chinese New Year Day), 6:30-8:30pm, the 2012 Chinese New Year’s Party was held at the Parliament, by the Load Wei. It was initialised by CCPN Director, and Co-Director of CIBL, Dr Kent Deng, sponsored by the CIBL, and organised by Dr Hong Lu with LSE team and Lord Wei’s team. This event is for LSE China experts to meet London’s professionals and practitioners, promote Chinese language and cultural, engage with public and society, networking, socialising, relaxation and refreshing at the festival occasion.

The Lord Wei of Shoreditch made a welcome speech, followed greetings by Mr Tian Xiaogang, Minister Counsellor of Chinese Embassy, the main speech was made by Mr Stephen Philips, the Chief Executive, China-Business Council (CBBC) [you can download he speech HERE], finally, Mr Nick Byren, Director of Language Centre, represented Professor Janet Hartley, LSE’s Pro Director, made apologies for absents and expressed thanks to the organisers and attendees.

Many other members of LSE from Asia Research Centre, Language Centre, CIBL and student representatives, also attended the party. It has been a great evening. Everybody believed the year of dragon would be a year with challenges and excitements.
