Biography

Claire Gordon has been working as a Teaching Fellow at the European Institute and Department of Government since 2003, teaching courses European political economy, emerging markets, political transition and economic development in Europe, and nationalism and ethnic conflict in post-communist states. In 2011 she was co-researcher on the European Parliament project 'Measures to promote the situation of Roma EU citizens in the European Union' with Will Bartlett and they are currently collaborating on a LSEE research project exploring Welfare systems and minority inclusion in the Western Balkans. Claire Gordon is a member of the non-resident Senior Research Associate network at the European Centre for Minority Issues and is an international scholar on the Open Society Foundations Associated Fellowship Programme affiliated to the Department of Political Science of the University of Sts Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, Macedonia and the Department of Political Science at the University of Pristina, Kosovo.  Claire Gordon also works part-time at the LSE's Teaching and Learning Centre.

Research interests

EU enlargement and conditionality; the EU's relationship with the wider Europe; conflict management and minority protection; social inclusion and the Roma.
