Biography
Professor Anke Hassel is professor of public policy at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany. Previously, Anke taught at the International University in Bremen and was a senior researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne.
Anke is a member of the editorial board of the European Industrial Relations Journal and the public administration journal 'der moderne Staat' as well as a member of the executive council of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics.
Anke specializes in EU labour relations and has written a book about the effects of EMU on national labour relations institutions and the emergence of social pacts. Since then, she has worked on the transformation of the German political economy since reunification, with a particular focus on welfare and labour market reforms.
She contributes regularly to projects of Policy Network and is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Progressive Zentrum in Germany. She is a columnist for the political journal Berliner Republik on German politics.
