Biography
Dr Michael Mason is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environment and an Associate of the Grantham Research Institute for Climate Change and the Environment. His research interests encompass environmental politics and governance, notably issues of accountability, energy security and climate change adaptation. In 2008-2009 he served as lead consultant for a UNDP project developing a climate change adaptation strategy for the Palestinian Authority. He is currently LSE Co-ordinator of a Research Project under the European Commission Seventh Framework Programme, Sustainable RIO, which is addressing the role of sustainable development within EU policy-making. Alongside articles in a wide range of academic journals, he is the author of Environmental Democracy (1999), The New Accountability: Environmental Responsibility across Borders (2005) and co-editor (with Amit Mor) of Renewable Energy in the Middle East (2009).
