Asia

The Asia Stream of the MSc in Comparative Politics programme allows students to pursue diverse interests in the study of politics in the most populous -- and most politically diverse and dynamic -- region of the world. Courses offered in this stream cover the major countries and sub-regions of Asia and address a diverse range of issues related to political change: state and government, democracy and democratisation, civil society and social movements; the political economy of development; ethnic and religious conflict; nationalism and separatism; local politics and everyday forms of resistance. Course teachers on this stream offer a range of expertise across Asia, in terms of relating general disciplinary theoretical/conceptual issues and area specific knowledge, command of Asian languages, extensive fieldwork, and world-class research and writings on various aspects of Asian politics.
