This conference seeks to examine and call for an end to the increasing practice of indefinite immigration detention in the UK. It will specifically address political, legal and health issues concerning the practice of indefinite immigration detention.
In order to have a comprehensive approach, this day-long conference will consist of plenary sessions, smaller group workshops and a panel discussion.
We are very happy to confirm the following keynote speakers:
- Helen Bamber OBE, Co-Founder of the Helen Bamber Foundation
- Alison Harvey, General Secretary of Immigration Law Practitioners Association
- Jerome Phelps, Coordinator of the London Detainee Support Group
- Dr Eiko Thielemann, Director of the Migrations Studies Unit, LSE
We will be updating our website over the course of the coming weeks with further information, including confirmations of additional speakers and details of workshops.
This conference is open to everyone interested in human rights and civil liberties.
In conjunction with the conference, we are delighted to announce that the Cambridge Review of International Affairs will be publishing a call for papers on indefinite immigration detention.
