Marcello is currently a Fellow at the LSE Department of Health Policy. His research focuses on a range of topics in the field of health economics, from a comprehensive analysis of the financing of healthcare systems and the cost-sharing designs to the examination of health policies and patients' behaviors. During his Ph.D. at the University of Newcastle (AU), he investigated the institutional regulatory response, behaviors, preferences, and decision-making trade-offs related to COVID-19. Marcello is the Chief Investigator of the VaxPref project, a global initiative conducted across 22 countries and 14 Universities to explore preferences for vaccination campaigns and attitudes toward vaccination. He served as the Executive Guest Editor for the Special Issue 'Global Health Policies and Vaccination Strategies in The Endemic Phase,' launched by Health Policy and Technology. Prior to commencing his Ph.D., Marcello worked in the economic Health Reforms advisory team for the Chilean Ministry of Health.
Marcello holds an MSc in Health Economics, Policy, and Management from the University of Bologna and a BA in Economics from Sapienza University. He is an Associate Fellow of Advance HE and a member of the Value in Health Economics and Policy Group.
