Objectives

  • To reflect on how academic debate about children's' rights can be brought into local stratatigies of advocacy in order to develop a policy practical application for Professor's Grugel research project;
  • To work with Professor Grugel in systematising the obstacles to a full implementation of the new law and in developing guidelines that can provide the basis for discussion amongst rights-based groups on this issue;
  • To work with Professor Grugel in terms of developing advocacy strategies within CASACIDN in particular, which can then be spread to other practitioner groups as well;
  • To try and prioritise areas for advocacy work for civil society groups in relations to the new law (for example, participation, budget allocation, welfare);.
  • To add value to Professor Grugel's project by giving her the opportunity for sustained reflection with an established practitioner in children's rights and opening the opportunity for a lasing, and hopefully fruitful, relationship between a UK academic and practitioners groups in Argentina.

Outputs

There will be three major outputs from my stay in the UK.

  1. I will design written guidelines for dissemination within CACASIDN and other groups for an implementation strategy for the new law, which will include how to put children's voices into policy making, in order to deepen CRC and implement the new law in policies and practices.
  2. I will organise and deliver a seminar on my return to Argentina to discuss and disseminate these guidelines with CASCDIN and other civil society partners.
  3. I will design and organise a data base which can be used by civil society groups as a tool for
  • Analyzing current trends and emerging issues;
  • Sharing best practices at local and international level;
  • Strengthening networking among practitioners groups committed to CRC implementation;
  • Capacity-building including new knowledge from research, management tools and methods;
  • Policy development based on what works for children and adolescents with a rights based approach.
