Biography
Laura Collins joined the Crisis States Research Centre in December 2008, bringing with her experience of working across Africa, Asia and Central America. Laura most recently worked with DFiD Malawi in providing strategic support in donor harmonisation and aid effectiveness to the education sector. Prior to this she worked on education, gender and human rights for UNICEF Malawi. Laura has worked with HTSPE in Pakistan, Chatham House, London and African Rights, Rwanda, and has published a range of articles on development education policy, food security, and national identity. Laura is currently undertaking a DPhil in Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, having graduated with an MPhil in International Studies in 2006. She also holds a first class degree in History from Trinity College Dublin.
Research interests and areas of supervision
Governance; development as state building; aid effectiveness and government ownership; nationalism and national identity.
