Current research:
Managing Technology Risks in an Era of Globalization: A Comparative Study of Nanotechnology Oversight in Asia and Europe (2009-2010)
This project examines emerging nanotechnology policies in selected Asian countries and the European Union. Funded by a Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) research grant, it is being conducted in collaboration with Prof. Darryl Jarvis and other colleagues at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. Recent projects:
Regulating Nanotechnologies in the EU and US: Towards Effectiveness and Convergence (2008-2009)
This EU-funded project was a collaboration between LSE and Chatham House in the UK and the Environmental Law Institute and the Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in the US. It examined emerging regulatory approaches to nanotechnology regulation in the EU and US, with a focus on chemicals, food and cosmetics. The project culminated in an international conference at Chatham House and the publication of a major report on transatlantic nanotechnology regulation.
