Calling all entrepreneurs! The best time to put your business ideas into action could be right now
And we’ve double-dipped. The markets are all jittery and I don’t seem to be able to finish my skinny latte without hearing the words austerity, recession, or depression being flung around the coffee bar each morning. So who in their right mind would be crazy enough to start a business at a time like this?! Well, funny you should ask; Microsoft for a start, Walt Disney and Hewlett-Packard are two others. In fact, a whopping sixteen out of thirty companies that make up the current Dow Jones Industrial Average were started during a recession!

Business plan competition
Applications are being received for the world’s largest business plan competition, RBS Enterprising U. The competition is your chance to run your business ideas or existing business through viability tests, learn how to crystallise these ideas and how to pitch these ideas to a room full of investors at the Enterprising U 2012 final, where you’ll be in with the chance of winning £40000. The Lean Startup

LSE Entrepreneur Internship Scheme

Then why not apply to take part in the LSE’s new and exciting internship scheme aimed at budding entrepreneurs, who want to gain first-hand experience of what it takes to start up and develop a new business project. UnLtd Social Entrepreneurship Awards
If you are looking to start a social enterprise then a new type of UnLtd award might be for you. The HE Social Entrepreneurship Awards programme from UnLtd and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) provides financial and non-financial support across Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) in England to develop their expertise, skills, knowledge base and business support structures in social entrepreneurship and social enterprise activity.
