The Volunteer Centre advertises a wide range of opportunities in charities around London and internationally on My Careers Service for you to chose from. Details of the types of projects in the UK under opportunities and projects abroad under International Opportunities.
Step 1 - Add to your 'My Careers Service' profile that you are interested in volunteering. This means that you will receive the Volunteer Centre newsletter.
Step 2 – Search for opportunities on the vacancy boardon My Careers Service|. Search 'volunteering' or 'pay to volunteer abroad' under opportunity type. Look up further information about volunteering opportunities, including opportunities at LSE and setting up your own project.
NB: It is easier to look at all volunteering opportunities by searching this way, if you search by sector it will not bring up all the relevant opportunities.
Step 3 – Contact the organisations or projects directly that you are interested in. The adverts should include deadlines, application and contact details.
Step 4 – Once you have a confirmed volunteering placement contact the Volunteer Centre to let us know what you are doing and if there is anything we can do to help you. If you can't find a placement that is right for you come along the Volunteer Centre Drop-ins to meet with the Volunteering Coordinator to see how we can help.
NB: Drop-ins are Every Tuesday 4-5pm in the Student Union Quad (by Alpha books) and Fridays 2-4pm in the Careers Service (Tower 3, Floor 3).
