At St Philips we have devised a simple guide for easy access to your local NHS Medical Centre. Please find the headings into which you fit below and follow the instructions for (hopefully) stress free registration.
I am a UK Citizen or I have previously had an NHS doctor in the UK
You will already hold a National Heath Service (NHS) number. It is strongly recommended that you register with your local medical centre whilst at University, even if you already have a doctor in the UK.
If you return home at weekends or during the holidays you can be seen by your previous doctor as a 'temporary resident' - it all depends on where (in the UK) you will spend more than 50 % of your time. You can always re-register with your previous doctor if you return home permanently.I have never lived in the UK
I have never had an NHS doctor in the UK before
You need to register with a Medical Centre in order to obtain a National Health Service (NHS) number. This allows you to receive full NHS medical services whilst you are resident in the UK.
Who can register at St Philips medical centre?
The reason why where you live affects which medical centre you can register with ultimately derives from:
-
the geographical factors that have shaped how London is organised from an administrative basis, and
-
rules, drawn up in 1949, governing registration of patients with doctors
The location map| illustrates all of the postcodes in our practice area. Please note, we do not cover any postcodes south of the river, this includes the following LSE halls of residence: Bankside House, Sidney Webb House/ Dover Street and Butlers Wharf.
If you live within our practice area you can register with us please go to the registration section| to continue.
If you need any further help please do not hesitate to contact St Philips Medical Centre on 020 7955 7016 or email the medical centre|
