Mrs Mamselle Jackson Mrs Janine Bye
Nursery Manager Deputy Nursery Manager
A warm welcome to the LSE Early Years Centre and thank you for looking at our website.
My name is Mamselle Jackson manager of the LSE Nursery and my deputy is Janine Bye. Janine and I have been a team since February 2011 and with the help of our dedicated staff team have worked hard to make our nursery a success. We are very pleased about our latest OFSTED inspection, in which we had an overall grading of Good. In describing the overall effectiveness of our provision the OFSTED inspector wrote:
"Staff recognise and effectively meet each individual child's needs, ensuring none are disadvantaged. Overall, children's welfare is successfully promoted and safeguarding procedures are effectively implemented. Partnerships with parents and other promote good quality education and care. The process of self-evaluation is effective and contributes to good planning. The capacity to make continuous improvement provides a good quality provision for all children".

Introduction
The LSE runs a multi-cultural nursery, providing care for up to 63 children aged between three months and 5 years. It is located at 8a Wild Street, London WC2B 5TB. There are 23 places for babies aged 3 months to 2 years, 24 places for children aged between 2 to 3 years and 16 places for children 3 to 5 years.
Our aim is to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment which enables children to develop at their own pace, whilst encouraging them to attain their full potential. The nursery is well equipped with multi-cultural and age appropriate toys which help to promote positive images in all aspects of play and your child is free to experience the activities offered in our well-planned daily routine.
All our Nursery staff have relevant childcare qualifications. The nursery officers are all qualified up to level 3, whilst all our nursery assistants have a relevant level 2 qualification and some are working towards a level 3. They will make every effort to encourage play and learning through the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and the six learning goals laid down by OFSTED. The Nursery is run under the supervision of the Nursery Manager, who holds a Masters degree in Education (Early Years).
The nursery is registered with OFSTED in accordance with the Children Act 1989 and staffing and other arrangements are approved by the local authority).
The staff to child ratio is as follows: 3 months–2 years, 1:3; 2 years–3 years, 1:4 and 3 years–5 years, 1:8.
