Academic Board and Academic Board Agenda Committee
To the Academic Board are bought all major issues of general policy affecting the academic life of the School and its development. All full-time academic staff are members of the Board.
The Academic Board Agenda Committee plans the business of the Board and arranges the agenda for each meeting.

Academic Nominations Committee
This committee is responsible for devising and implementing equitable, transparent and fair procedures for identifying and appointing academic officers, relevant committee chairmanships and members of academic committees. Audit Committee
The Audit Committee is a committee of Council and meets once per term. The secretary of the committee should be contacted if there are items for the agenda of this committee. The secretary also deals with requests for minutes or papers.

Chairman's Group
The Group is authorised to act during vacations and between meetings of the Council, in any urgent matter, which would normally come before the Council, with certain exceptions.

Chairmanship and Vice-Chairmanship Selection Committees
The Selection Committee is responsible for the selection and appointment of the Chairman and Vice Chairmen of the Court and Council. To maintain accountability, any Chairman or Vice Chairmen should serve a limit of two periods of office of no more than three to four years each. The Committee recommends to the Court of Governors (see below) whether to renew the respective terms of office for a second period.

Photocopying from books, journals and periodicals is not allowed unless the permission of the copyright owner has been obtained. The School purchases a licence from the Copyright Licensing Agency, which allows its staff and students to make copies (with certain restrictions). Council
The Council is the governing body of the School and has twenty-five members. The Council deals with strategic issues and has a number of committees reporting to it concerned with key areas of strategy and policy. The members of Council are directors of the company, which is the School. The business of the Council is managed on behalf of the Secretary and Director of Administration.

Court of Governors
The Court of Governors is the main constitutional authority within the School and acts as a forum for debate and discussion. There are a maximum of 100 Governors of the School and the Court meets once per term.

Educational Recording Agency
A licence purchased from the Educational Recording Agency allows the School to record radio and television programmes for educational use. See www.era.org.uk| for terms and conditions of the licence.

Honorary Degrees
Honorary degrees are awarded by the University of London; LSE has an entitlement to three nominations in any one year. They are awarded to persons of conspicuous merit, who are outstanding in their field or who have given exceptional service to the University. The School currently has eight honorary graduates. Honorary Fellows
LSE confers Honorary Fellowships each year on people who have attained distinction in the arts, science, or public life, or who have rendered outstanding services to the School or its concerns. Honours for staff

Nominations Committee
This committee is responsible for planning for the full range of lay and honorific appointments within the School. It searches for and recommends the appointment of lay Governors, Council members, Honorary Fellows and graduates, and all lay committee chairmanships and memberships.

Pro-Directorship Selection Committee
The Pro-Directorship Selection Committee is responsible for the selection and appointment of the School's three Pro-Directors. It also performs a review of each Pro-Director's term of office after their first three years' service. The three posts are distinguishable as focussing on external affairs, student/quality issues and resource matters.
