LSE choir and orchestra

LSE Choir

The LSE Choir is open to all students, staff and alumni. The choir takes part in two evening concerts and give three lunchtime recitals during each academic year.  Choir rehearsals take place in the Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building, on Tuesday evenings, 6pm – 7.30pm. The first rehearsal takes place on 4th October. The current programme in preparation for the Christmas concert (period between October – December 2011) includes Dettingen Te Deum by GF Handel and a selection of Christmas carols. The chorus master is Andrew Campling. Singers are asked to attend rehearsals regularly, and should have some ability to read music.

LSE Orchestra

The LSE Orchestra is open to all students, staff and alumni. The orchestra and choir will give two evening concerts one in the Michaelmas term 2011 and one in the Lent term 2012. The conductor is Matthew Taylor. Orchestra members are asked to attend rehearsals regularly. The first rehearsal takes place on 3rd October. The current programme in preparation for the Christmas concert (period between (October – December 2011) includes Brahms Double Concerto in A minor Nielsen Symphony No.1.

Please note: Both rehearsals take place in the Shaw Library, 6th floor, Old Building with orchestra rehearsals lasting from 6.45pm to 9.00pm and choir rehearsals taking place between 6.00pm and 7.30pm.
