Accommodation for staff and visitors

LSE Residential Services offer a range of accommodation for staff and visitors to the School.

We have rooms, studios and apartments available both on the LSE campus and within our residences.

The accommodation is primarily available for stays of 28 days and more but shorter stays may be possible at increased rates, subject to availability.
 
New for 2011, at Bankside House, we have a well appointed en-suite double guest room available to let for short stays of up to seven days. This adds to our range of visitor accommodation at Bankside which offers an ideal base for conference visitors, speakers, new staff and other visitors to the School as well as student's family and friends. Guest are required to sign an Accommodation Agreement prior to arrival. Rates are inclusive of all utility charges, services (except external telephone calls) and VAT.

From time to time we also have vacancies within student accommodation that we can make available to staff members. Please contact us  to find out what is available.

Staff accommodation is not available to LSE Students or the general public. It cannot be booked for periods of more than one year.

1. How do I make a booking?
   To make a reservation, visit our online booking system. You will need a credit or debit card to make a confirmed booking.
2. Do I need to pay a deposit?
   The deposit required and payment frequency depend on the length of stay, for more information please check the payments section of the terms and conditions.
3. What is your minimum/maximum stay?
   Short stays from just a single night are available. The best rates in most accommodation are available for a stays of 28 days and more. The maximum stay in staff accommodation is one year.
4. Can I have pets?
   Unfortunately, pets other than guide dogs are not allowed in any of the halls.
5. Can I smoke in the apartment?
   All our propeties, on and off campus, follow a strict non-smoking policy. This includes the apartments, studios, and rooms for staff and visitors.
6. Who is eligible to stay in Staff and Visitor accommodation?
   Any LSE staff members; visiting researchers, teachers and lecturers; and visitors to administrative divisions. If you are not sure about your eligibility please contact us.
7. Can students stay in Staff and Visitor accommodation?
   Unfortunately not but we have lots of student accommodation available both during term time and in the vacation periods. For more details contact the Accommodation Office.
8. How can I pay?
   We accept most credit and debit cards, LSE Internal Debit Notes (IDN) and cheques. We cannot accept cash or American Express.   
9. Can a department book accommodation?
   Yes, the online booking system allows you to book on somebody else's behalf. You can also pay using an Internal Debit Note (IDN).
10. Can I view the accommodation prior to booking?
    We will always try our best to allow you to view the accommodation if you want to. Please bear in mind though that if we are fully booked this may not be possible. The photographs on these pages provide a good representation of the accommodation. 
11. Is there air conditioning?
    Unfortunately not, also please bear in mind that due to health and safety legislation, window restrictors are in place in some buildings which limit the extent to which a window will open.
12. Is there car parking?
    Most of the accommodation does not have on site parking. Bankside House and Carr-Saunders offers guest car parking for a small charge. Where available, parking is offered on a first come, first served basis and cannot be booked in advance. Guests bringing vehicles must notify reception staff as to the details and registration number of their vehicle to avoid being clamped. It should also be noted that London operates a 'Congestion Charge' of £8 per day for vehicles entering the centre of the capital during peak hours. For more information please visit www.cclondon.com.
13. Is there access to the LSE network?
    All of the accommodation have a work desk with a data connection to the LSE network. The Anchorage apartments also have LSE PCs available. SeeHalls Network connection for more details.
14. Are meals included or available?
    The staff and visitor accommodation is sold on a self-catering basis. At Bankside, Carr-Saunders and Passfield there is access to a student restaurant. The Campus Apartments are also very close to LSE Central Catering outlets. The meals served vary seasonally, for more details please contact us.
15. Is the accommodation serviced and/or cleaned?
    All the accommodation will be cleaned prior to your arrival. Linen and towels will be provided. Cleaning and servicing frequencies vary between sites so please contact us for more information.

17. Are there lifts?
    Most of the accommodation has step free elevator access with the following exceptions:
    The Anchorage – several narrow flights of stairs to the apartments
    Carr-Saunders Hall – several steps up to the main entrance but then lifts
    George IV apartments – several flights of stairs to the apartments
    Passfield Hall – three narrow flights of stairs to the apartment
18. When can I check in/out?
    Our normal check-in time is from 15.00 with check-out before 10.30. However if you need to arrive early or leave late this may be possible. Please contact us in advance of booking. If we cannot arrange early check-in/late check-out we will be able to store your bags for you.
19. I own an apartment, can you list it?
    We can't list it on this page but you can list it via the Accommodation Office on NetLet LSE. We direct people to NetLet LSE when we are fully booked.
