The LSE has been awarded certification for the LSE in the Top 30 Employers for Working Families 2011 and LSE as a Finalist for The Best for Fathers
Award 2011.
The LSE is the only university to receive certification.
To win certification organisations had to demonstrate to the leading work-life charity Working Families| how they embed family-friendly working practices into their culture. The survey covered the following areas: working patterns, recruitment, career development, staff satisfaction, attendance, planned leave and retention, and overall bottom-line impact.
As part of the plan to continue to be recognised as a top employer, the following events to help employees and managers will be held during 2011:
-
An event for fathers and fathers-to-be, to raise awareness on new legislation and give practical advice on managing the demands of home and work.
The date of the 'Balancing work and being dad" event is Tuesday 15 November. The event, delivered by Working Families, will be open to employees and non-employee partners of women employees on the basis that the employees should benefit from their partners receiving help with an enormous life change. Demand for places is expected to be high.
More details on the event will be sent this month to recent fathers, fathers-to-be and women employees who are on maternity leave or who have recently returned from such leave. HR Division is aware that there maybe fathers and fathers-to-be who have not applied for paternity leave, such employees are encouraged to contact Inga Achterkamp to express their interest in the event.
-
Lunchtime webinars for managers, to raise awareness of recent and forthcoming legislative changes and give practical advice on managing and engaging parents.
The webinars were held in November 2011. You can access the recorded webinars here.
-
A programme to train mentors in order to offer mentoring to fathers-to-be and mothers-to-be over an 18 month period.
If you have any questions on the events, contact Inga Achterkamp| (ext 6568), or Gail Keeley| (ext 6545).
