HR Events

The HR Division is pleased to announce the launch of three different types of events to mark the National Work-Life Week:

  • Lunchtime webinars for managers, to raise awareness of recent and forthcoming legislative changes and give practical advice on managing and engaging parents.

The date of the first 30-minute webinar is Wednesday 16 November at 1.15pm. The 'Why flexibility matters' will be presented by Liz Morris, Working Families and Dr Alexandra Beauregard, Department of Management.

More information on the webinar will be provided in mid-October. In recognition of the fact that the date may be inconvenient for some managers, the event will be recorded so it can be played on demand at a later date.

  • An event for fathers and fathers-to-be, to raise awareness on new legislation and give practical advice on managing the demands of home and work.

The date of the one-day event is Tuesday 15 November. The event, delivered by Working Families, will be open to employees and non-employee partners of women employees on the basis that the employees should benefit from their partners receiving help with an enormous life change. Demand for places is expected to be high.

More details on the event will be sent to recent fathers, fathers-to-be and women employees who are on maternity leave or who have recently returned from such leave. HR Division is aware that there maybe fathers and fathers-to-be who have not applied for paternity leave, such employees are welcome to contact Inga Achterkamp to express their interest in the event.

  • A programme to train mentors in order to offer mentoring to fathers-to-be and mothers-to-be over an 18 month period. Dates for the programme have yet to be confirmed.

If you have any questions on the events, contact Inga Achterkamp| (ext 6568), or Gail Keeley| (ext 6545).
