Interview with Danny Quah

'Who caused the global financial crisis?'
Michaelmas Term weeks 1-3

"[The global financial crisis] has impacted so many different people, so many different institutions, and economic performance across so many countries: the stakes are remarkably high. It links together people's economic ideas and theories with those real world stakes. Now, everyone sitting in this chain of events has a different understanding of it, has a different perspective, has a different take on the unfolding sequence of events. What we are trying to do in LSE100 is to put all of these together in an unbiased, neutral way, in a way which advances our understanding of this."

In this film, Danny Quah, Professor of Economics and Co-Director LSE Global Governance, talks to the Director of LSE100, Jonathan Leape. They discuss why "Who caused the global financial crisis?" is a natural topic for LSE100 and how the different causes that will be explored in the module make the debate so contentious.
