Examination timetable

2011/2 examination session

Examinations for the 2011/2 session will be held as follows:

  • Undergraduate - Monday 14 May to Wednesday 13 June inclusive
  • Graduate - Monday 28 May to Friday 22 June inclusive (Note: some departments may schedule exams from Tuesday 8 May onwards)

Written language examinations are included in the above timetable. Oral and listening exams are available on the Language Examination Timetables| webpage.

Regardless of your examination schedule, all students are required to be available throughout the Summer Term| in case, for example, an examination needs to be rescheduled or your script is deemed illegible by the examiner.

Personalised examination timetable

Your  personalised examination timetable, indicating your allocated room and seat for each examination, will be available via LSE for You (LfY) by the end of Week One of Summer Term.

In advance of the start of Summer Term, please check on LfY to ensure that you are enrolled for the correct courses. For advice on amending your course choices, please contact  Registry|.

If, by the start of Week Two, your personalised examination timetable has not been published, is incomplete, or is inaccurate, please email Registry| with your student ID number and details of the problem.

Please note that, in very exceptional circumstances, the dates of individual exams are subject to change. You should, therefore, check your personal exam timetable carefully when it is published.

Religious holidays

If, due to the observance of a religious holiday, you are unable to sit an examination as scheduled, you should email examinations@lse.ac.uk| as soon as possible to discuss alternative arrangements. Please include the following information:

  • your name
  •  your student ID number
  •  the courses you are taking
  •  the dates on which you are unable to attend examinations
  •  details of your exceptional circumstances

Please note that events such as weddings or other personal appointments do not constitute exceptional reasons for examination timetabling purposes.

Working at the end of your studies

If you have a student visa, you can work part time during your studies and full time during the vacation. The vacation time starts after the official term date, not after your final exam. If you are a one year Masters student and have to submit a dissertation, your vacation time starts after the official end of your programme in September. Full details are available from the International Student Immigration Service|.
