Why groups?

Groups are an excellent way of getting help with many of the emotional and interpersonal problems faced by students. The confidential group setting provides a place where difficulties can be explored and thought about in a supportive environment, with the help of a skilled and experienced group therapist.

Many aspects of group therapy have been borrowed by the industrial and commercial world, as personal emotional management, awareness of how groups work, and refined interpersonal skills are now recognised to be valuable attributes for managers and employees alike. You don't have to be ill or failing to get help to benefit from joining a group. Group therapy is also a useful preventive measure in high stress situations, and can help prevent a naturally stressful and competitive situation from becoming problematic.

To apply for a place in a group, please contact us, making it clear which group you are interested in joining. You will then be invited for an individual interview with the group therapist so that you can meet them, ask any questions you may have about joining a group, and also allow the therapist to get some idea of the issues you want to work on.

All our group therapists are fully trained, qualified and experienced. These groups are confidential and free for all current LSE students.
