SSC Advice and Reception Team

Who are we?

The Advice and Reception team manages and operates the counter service in the Student Services Centre. We work closely with Registry, the Financial Support Office, the Fees Offices and the International Student Immigration Service (ISIS), as well as the Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate Admissions teams to provide up-to-date and accurate information. We aim to provide an initial response to general enquiries throughout the day or signpost you to the appropriate team or department for specialist advice.

We offer the following services:

  • Certificate of Registration stamping:  Please note that you can download your Certificates of Registration from LSE for You and then the certificate stamped and signed at the SSC counter.  This applies to currently registered students only.
  • We distribute transcripts and other documentation that has been requested for collection from the SSC counter. 
     
  • We distribute student loan and scholarship cheques as well as hardship loan cheques that have been previously applied for by registered students.  All students must show their LSE ID Card each time they collect a cheque.
  • We produce and issue replacement Student ID Cards.  Please note, no cash payments are accepted at the SSC counter.
  • We field basic enquiries from postgraduate/ undergraduate programme applicants and will signpost the applicant to the relevant admissions office.
  • You can post your completed request forms or application forms in the allocated drop boxes along the Atrium wall of the SSC. They are emptied daily by the Advice and Reception team.
  • We offer drop-in services on weekdays for the Fees Office, Financial Support Office, Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions Offices and for the International Student Immigration Service (ISIS).

Services we are unable to offer

  • We do not issue NUS ID cards or Oyster cards. Students should apply for these cards with the Students' Union in the East Building.
  • We do not write personal letters for students, ie reference letters, proof of attendance or legitimise non-LSE documents. Please note that reference letters should normally be requested from your Academic Adviser or supervisor.
  • We do not offer advice on welfare or employment, but will refer students to the appropriate contact. You can obtain advice on these issues from the Students' Union Advice and Support Service in the East Building
  • We do not give out personal information about any of our students without written authorisation from the student themselves (as per the Data Protection Act 1998, see Data Protection) .

What we expect from our students

The Advice and Reception team is committed to offering our students a high-quality service and we will do all we can to help you in a polite and friendly manner. In return we also expect to be treated with respect and courtesy.
