About us

Modern Foreign Language Programmes|

Take a language course as a fully assessed part of an undergraduate degree|. We can also offer extra curricular options via our our MFL Certificate Courses| and for the Summer we have short but sweet Summer Languages.|

If a course does not exactly meet your requirements we can offer 1-2-1 and private group tuition| using the expertise of our specialist teachers.

English Language Programmes|

Foundation| and Presessional| programmes are available for prospective students and a comprehensive Insessional| programme is in place to support current students throughout their time at LSE.

Linguistics and Literature Degree Programmes|

If you are an undergraduate student and wish to study how linguistics and literature fit into the framework of Society and Politics you should consider these options. Our literature programme is taught by Dr Angus Wrenn| and Dr Olga Sobolev| and our linguistic option by Dr Peter Skrandies|

Most of our courses are scheduled courses running throughout the academic year. However, we do at times run short courses available to the LSE community only, for example as part of the Maximise Your Potential programme, or one off Learning Support workshops. These courses use the LSE Training System for sign up. See here for what is currently offered.

Support is available to all those registered on a course as well as any LSE students who might need advice on aspects of self study.

Our Tandem Learning Programme|, now on facebook, is a great way to supplement your language learning. It is free of charge and you can benefit whatever your language level.

Governance of the Language Centre|

The Language Centre is part of the Academic and Professional Development Division (APD).| Ths Division combines the strengths of the Teaching and Learning Centre| (TLC), Language Centre|, LSE 100 |and Careers Service|, who will work together to help maximise the academic and professional development of staff and students.
