Language Centre

The Language Centre here at the London School of Economics reflects the specialist nature of the School itself, namely, a world class institution where the quality of teaching and research is paramount. We specialise in providing current LSE students and staff with language support as well as providing programmes for prospective students and business clients. This site carries information on all our programmes, key activities and future events.

English Language Programmes

All our programmes are accredited by the British Council. Foundation| and Presessional| programmes for prospective students and a comprehensive Insessional| programme to support current students throughout their time at LSE.

Modern Foreign Language Programmes

You can take a language course as a fully assessed part of an undergraduate degree|. For those of you who prefer the extra curricular option we have our MFL Certificate Courses| with courses in 11 different languages.

Literature Degree Programmes

If you are an undergraduate student and wish to study how it fits into the framework of Society and Politics you should consider these options of English|, Comparative| and Contemporary Literature| and Society.

Russian

In addition to our scheduled courses we also offer 1-2-1 and private group tuition|, proofreading|, translation and authentication services| in all the languages we teach. These services are available at discounted rates to current LSE members and 1-2-1 tuition programmes are available to alumni with a 20% discount. Learning Support| is available to all those registered on a course as well as any LSE students who might need advice on aspects of self study.
