Catalogue of Tory Reform Group papers now online

The catalogue of the papers of the Tory Reform Group, has now been completed and is available online through the Archives catalogue|.

The Tory Reform Group was formed in 1975 and its main aim has been to encourage the Conservative Party to adopt centre-right, One Nation policies. It regularly publishes policy papers and issues a quarterly journal, 'The Reformer'. It also organises events such as conferences, lectures, receptions and fringe meetings at Conservative Party Conferences.

The collection is a valuable resource for all those interested in the history of the Conservative Party, and the development of centre-right policies from the 1970s onwards. Highlights of the collection include:

  • Executive committee minutes of meetings and related papers
  • Annual General Meetings papers
  • Correspondence files
  • Files regarding events, including conferences, seminars and receptions
  • Pamphlets on a wide variety of topics, including economics, the environment, social policy and Europe (including papers regarding the Single Currency/Euro)
  • The Reformer journal
  • Press releases and other publicity.

The collection also contains papers of related pressure groups:

  • PEST - Pressure for Economic and Social Toryism (TRG/1)
  • Parliamentary Mainstream and Conservative Mainstream (TRG/3)
  • Macleod Group of Conservative MPs (TRG/4).
