The papers of the Bob Mellors have been listed as part of the 1967 & All That project|, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which marked the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act.
Bob Mellors was a gay writer and community activist, having been a founder member of the Gay Liberation Front. In the late 1970s he became friends with "Dr" Charlotte Bach, a transgender woman who developed a complex philosophy of evolution, gender and sexuality which she called 'human ethology'. She lectured on her theories at salons in London and attracted a small cult following. Born Carl Hadju in Hungary, Bach had lived as a man until the late 1960s, spending time in prison for fraud, and none of her friends were aware of her past. Upon her death in 1981, Mellors inherited her library and wrote an unpublished biography of her.
The Hall-Carpenter Archives holds 10 boxes of Mellors's papers on Charlotte Bach, mostly comprising works written by her and her circle of followers.
