Cannan Collection

Description: The working library of the economist Edwin Cannan (1861-1935), which came to the Library, by bequest in 1936. The collection focuses on the development of economic thought in Europe from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries and includes a set of early editions of Adam Smith's An inquiry into the wealth of nations collected during Cannan's work for his critical edition of 1904. The collection includes works by Edwin Cannan along with other authors.
