Reprographics

We offer a comprehensive reprographics service to researchers. We can provide:

  • Photocopying
  • Scanning
  • Microfilm printouts
  • Photographing
  • Microfilming

All photocopying and other reprographics orders are processed by archive staff for security and preservation reasons.

Not all collections are suitable for all types of copying; for preservation reasons we do not normally photocopy photographs. Nor do we usually photocopy or scan pre-1850 bound volumes, large volumes or volumes that are heavy or fragile.

Wherever possible we will offer an alternative (e.g. photography or microfilming), but we reserve the right to refuse to copy items where the copying process will cause damage.

In addition, copying orders can only be processed if they are in accordance with current UK copyright law. Copyright in photographs and other artistic works is particularly stringent; it is illegal for us to copy images without the copyright holder's permission (for more information see the Short guide to copyright for LSE staff| or contact us: Contact details|).
