The library holds large runs of printed material of statistical data from IGOs. These are mostly to be found in the Library's Current Statistics Collection on the 1st floor. They are filed using the acronym of the organisation concerned. Each acronym is followed by a number which indicates the broad subject of the statistics (eg: look for IMF (HA401) for the International financial statistics). Older runs of these titles are kept in the Historical Statistics Collection Lower Ground floor.
-
Note, however, that some statistics will be found in the normal IGO sequence (for example, the IMF staff country reports usually have extensive statistical data in them and these are to be found in the main IMF sequence).
-
To trace what statistical titles have been published by IGOs, consult the Index to international statistics, 1983-1996 shelved in the Reference Collection at ZHA155. This has a subject and country arrangement and refers users to the abstracts volume which indicates the title required. Users should then consult the Library's catalogues to see whether we take that particular title and where it may be found if we do. For an electronic version of this up to 1997, consult the Statistical masterfile CD-ROM.
-
Another useful index is Fleming, M.C and Nellis, J.G. International statistics sources: subject guide to sources of international comparative statistics, 1995.[REF COLL ZHA155 F59]. Sometimes called Instat. Covers commercial and trade statistics sources.
