Applying for SCONUL Access

Click on drop down menu asking what kind of user you are, and the name of your home institution.

Click on the “Find” button which will show all potential host libraries both as a map and as a list of institution. Libraries can be searched in a particular region or by entering a postcode.

Click on the name of the institution you would like to visit. Complete online registration form

A confirmatory email will be sent within two working days. Please take a copy of this email to the library you wish to visit.
University of London
Academic staff, research degree students (PhD, MPhil), Taught Course and Undergraduates are provided with reference access on production of a valid university ID card.
A SCONUL Access card Band A or B is required for borrowing privileges. You can apply for a SCONULaccess below.

All visitors should complete our online Self Registration form before their visit.
Applications may take up to 2 working days after registering at the Library Reception desk with your card. A temporary reference pass will be provided if your card cannot be issued immediately.

All UK university Staff and Students must apply using our online self registration form.
In addition all UK university students must apply for SCONUL access through the SCONUL website. http://www.sconul.ac.uk/sconul-access|
You are advised to apply for a SCONUL access before you visit the LSE library.
Only SCONUL Access Band A or B (unless reference is specified) are eligible for borrowing.
All other SCONUL visitors will receive reference cards.
If your institution is not on the SCONUL site you must apply as a member of the public|.
Please note that during the summer term we operate a period of restricted access for external users. Staff and research students will not be affected by this procedure.
