Overseas visitors

Academic staff and research students

Staff and research degree students from overseas universities will be asked to show proof of their current status (eg. university ID card) when they first visit the Library, when collecting their card, and when renewing membership. If your ID card does not clearly indicate your status (eg. Staff, Research student), please also bring a letter of introduction from your department to confirm your status.

Please use our online Self Registration form| before your visit.

All other overseas visitors

Overseas visitors may apply for reference access to the Library, providing the required research material is not readily available elsewhere.

Please use the online Self Registration form| and ensure you enter your overseas address rather than your temporary UK address.  You must bring your current passport, driving license or national ID card with you to the Library reception desk on your visit.

Applications may take up to 2 working days after registering at the Library Reception desk with your card.  A temporary reference pass will be provided if your card cannot be issued straight away.

Access to Course Collection material

The Course Collection area contains reading list material which is only available to LSE students and staff during LSE term times. Please check the availability of material on the Library Catalogue| before your visit.
