The Library has recently purchased or subscribed to the following online resources in support of research and teaching. These will be made available through the Library Catalogue and Electronic Resources pages in due course.

economist|  Economist| - now available online from 1843!

The Library has purchased the Economist Historical Archive. This major research resource from Gale Cengage delivers a complete searchable copy of every issue of The Economist, from 1843 to 2003. Full text is complemented by colour images and exportable financial tables. A timeline allows for browsing through specific date and issues. Current issues of The Economist to the present day are available through the Nexis and Business Source Premier databases.

Empire Online is an exciting collection of original documents relating to Empire Studies, sourced from libraries and archives around the world. Themes include: Cultural Contacts, 1492-1969; Empire Writing and the Literature of Empire; The Visible Empire; Religion & Empire; Race, Class, Imperialism and Colonialism, 1607-2007. The collection is made up of approximately 60,000 images of original documents linked to essays by leading scholars in the field of Empire Studies.

mass observation online| Mass Observation Online |- now updated!

The Library first purchased Mass Observation Online in 2007. Mass Observation was a pioneering social research organisation whose papers provide insights into the cultural and social history of Britain from the 1930s and 1940s. The Library has purchased an update to the online collection which more than doubles the existing content. The newly added materials include: Diaries, 1941-42; Directives 1942; and six major new Topic Collections.

The encyclopedia, published by Wiley-Blackwell is a comprehensive resource covering the history of protest and revolution over the past 500 years – throughout the modern era of mass movements.

The online version of Who's Who, the well-known biographical reference work is now available from Oxford University Press. The online version includes both the current directory and Who Was Who, which contains over 100,000 entries from the archives of Who's Who dating back to 1898

max plank|  Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law|

Edited by Rüdiger Wolfrum. This fully updated online edition of the Encyclopedia of Public International Law published in print between 1991 and 2001 under the general editorship of Rudolf Bernhardt includes 125 new articles added in May 2009. There are now over 50 articles on the Law of treaties |and over 100 on the Law of the sea|.

This resource is intended to be a single point of reference for all international law jurisprudence. Modules available include: International Courts of General Jurisdiction; International Criminal Law; International Human Rights Law; International Investment Claims; International Law in Domestic Courts.
