On 3rd November the first phase of LSE: A History in Pictures went live on Flickr. (http://www.flickr.com/lselibrary/|)
The project, generously funded by the Annual Fund, makes accessible a wide range of photographs from across our archives for school and public use. So far around 500 images from the archives have been digitised dating from the 1890s to the 1990s and they cover a remarkable range of school life – staff to students, buildings and special events. The pictures will be of potential interest to family historians, the media and academic researchers and are also a great resource for school publicity. There is also a whole set just of the Library from its days in the Old Building to the opening of the Lionel Robbins Building.
There is scope for you to be involved - you can leave comments about the images on Flickr and add your own memories. We are also looking for your expertise - if the description on the site does not name the people or place in the photograph then we do not have a record - so please help fill in some gaps or make some corrections!
The project is ongoing until May 2010 by which time there will be over 1000 images on the site, so keep checking back!
