Elizabeth Chapman took up the post of Director of Library Services on 18th January 2010. She is a Modern Languages graduate of Durham University who trained as a librarian at the then Polytechnic of North London. Her career has been in academic libraries ranging from Further Education where she also qualified to teach adults, to Brunel University, through to Oxford University where she took a year out of Libraries to take on a senior university role as Junior Proctor.
She held multiple positions at Oxford University before taking up post as Deputy Director of Library Services at UCL in January 2004. There she was responsible for 15 site libraries across North London. She also lectured in the UCL Department of Information Studies and is a Research Associate in the CIBER Group.
She is currently a member of the International Advisory Board of a major serials supplier, the STM Publishers library relations group and a founder member of the annual Fiesole Retreat which brings together publishers, librarians and suppliers.
