New to the Library? Welcome to the Library's Orientation pages. We have put them together to help make your first few days a little bit easier. Use the links at the bottom of the page to find out more about us and some of the services and facilities we have to offer. These are the things that you will probably need most in your first few weeks at LSE.
Library Card
You already have it! Your LSE card gets issued at registration and acts as both your School ID and your Library membership. There is no separate registration, so once you have collected it you can swipe straight in. Remember that you will need your card every time you visit the Library and please don't allow anyone else to use it.
Not registered yet? There is a temporary pass inside your welcome pack. Show this to Library security and they will let you through. Unfortunately you won't be able to borrow until after registration because you need your card to check books out. In the mean time, if you need any more information about registration, go to the New Arrivals 2011| page.
Pin Number
You have your card, but before you can take books out you will need a PIN number. This allows you to beat the queues at the service counter and use the self-service machines. Go to LSE for You,| follow the link for Library passwords and you can pick it up from there. Alternatively, collect in person from the service counter or from one the floor walkers you will see roaming around the Library.
Your First Few Days in the Library
It can be quite daunting using the Library for the first time. You will be wanting to set up your IT account, print and scan documents, make photocopies and check books out. Click on the icons below for a step-by-step guide on how get yourself ready and make the most of your time here.
