LSE staff and students can request items for inter-lending online via the Library Catalogue|. Before you place a request, please ensure that you have checked the catalogue and the item is not available in our own, or one of the University of London libraries.
To place an inter-lending request, you can enter the Library catalogue|. Click the Inter-lending icon, this will take you to our information page. Select the appropriate type of request by scrolling to the end of the page and clicking on the relevant link. You have a choice of books, journal articles, conferences and foreign theses.
Once selected, you will be taken to the requesting page, where you should enter as much information as possible in the fields provided. Finally, enter your User ID number and place the request. You will be informed if your request has been successfully processed. If you require a British thesis, please ask at the service counter.
If you wish to check the progress of your request, you can do so by clicking the Self-Service button, and selecting the User Status Inquiry option. Type in your User ID and PIN number (available at the Service Counter or on LSE for You|) and Display User Inquiry option. Click on Requests/Library messages, and a brief list of your requests will be displayed. For more detailed information, click on the coloured line.
