You can add references into an EndNote library from various electronic journals|. This enables you to create large libraries very quickly as you do not need add the references manually. However, depending on the source of the records, editing is sometimes required after the references have been downloaded in order to make them tidy and consistent.
References can also be added to your Library from our online bibliographic resources|. These enable you to search for citations from many different publishers, whereas electronic journal sites are usually limited to a single or small groups of publishers.
References for online journals can be added using either the Direct Export| or Importing| method.
Many electronic journals allow you to add references via the Direct Export method- allowing you to search your resource and then save your results directly into Endnote without having to choose an import filter. This method will only work if you have Endnote installed on your PC.
Direct Export also makes it very easy to use EndNote's global changes| features to add extra information to your search results. You could add keywords, the name of the database you have searched, or the date you made the search. Do this when your results first appear in your EndNote library before displaying your complete Library.
Some titles will require you to use an import filter. In this case you must save the references in the correct format and then import them into Endnote using the correct import filter
Please note that the entire text of the article will not be downloaded-although sometimes a link to to article will be transferred to the URL field
Note that some databases store records in UPPERCASE. In this instance references will also appear in Endnote in Uppercase.|
