Quick Tip: Converting from Version 5, 6 or 7 to version 9.01 or X1.01

You can open Endnote libraries created in versions 9 and X1.01 in version X4.  They will be converted into the new format which cannot then be reopened in an earlier version.

1. Select the file you wish to open in Endnote-a dialog box will open alerting you to the fact that your library will be converted
2. The new library will be created as e.g. library-Converted.enl
3. A .data folder will be created as part of your new library-do not delete this
4. your old library will remain unchanged
