These pages will enable you to locate books, journals and electronic resources for education topics. They have been created by the Liaison Librarian for Social Policy as the Education Research Group is associated to Social Policy. However they are designed to be useful for any LSE member researching topics within education.

  • World Atlas of Gender Equality in Education [UNESCO]
    It provides information and visual graphs of enrolment and gender in primary, secondary and tertiary education, also in adult and youth literacy. A final chapter considers how policies effect gender equality in education.

  • Eurydice Educational encyclopedia
    New online encyclopaedia on Education systems in Europe from Eurydice See more statistics on education in Europe from the main Eurydice website. Covers 38 countries. It also has over 5,000 thematic articles
  • Welcome to Digital Education Resource Archive (DERA ...
    DERA is a digital archive of documents published electronically by government and related bodies in the area of education. It is created as a permanent web archive by staff of the Institute of education Library. University of London. Currently over 1,000 documents/ reports are accessible with more being added. Topics covered are broad ranging include schools, learning, higher education policy and finance
  • European History Online
    European History Online is been funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation – DFG) it aims to create a multimedia guide to over 500 years (15th-21st centuries) of European history which is suitable for all age groups from undergraduates to experienced researchers. The site can be browsed by times period or themed topic. These include; education, arts, religion, law, constitutional history, migration, media
  • UNdata
    Launched in beta by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) it aims to provide a single gateway to over 30 UN statistical databases. The site can be searched by keyword or browsed by subject . It also offers a country file index which contains links to the website of the statistical bureau/ government department of the nation concerned. Other features of the site include twitter feeds which alert users to the latest updates and a glossary of terms . The full range of subject areas are covered including tourism, trade, refugees, education, crime and the environment
  • Policy Agendas Project
    A marvellous new resource which has been created by funds from the National Science Foundation (Grant No. 0111443), University of Texas, the University of Washington, and Pennsylvania State University. It provides researchers with a resource for tracking data from various archived sources to trace changes in theUS national policy agenda and public policy outcomes since the Second World War. View and download graphs tracing trends in funding for specific policies, trend analysis of agenda and detailed code books. The site also has a bibliography of further readings and a teachers section with selected lesson plans. A large number of US policy areas are covered ranging from defense to education and health care
  • Fachportal Pädagogik- German Education Portal
    is coordinated by the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF). It provides free access to a number of databases where you can trace online journal articles, reports, books and other materials relating to education.
  • German Education Index
    is maintained by the Educational Information System (FIS Bildung), a network of almost 30 documentation institutions, and is hosted by the German Institute for International Education Research (DIPF). It is a searchable index to journal articles, book chapters, reports and other grey literature covering all aspects of education policy, practice and theory. This includes coverage of teaching, the economics of education, and all levels of education from primary schooling to higher and adult education. Over 400 journal titles are indexed. These are primarily German language, but also include major English language publications. Entries cover publications from approximately 1980 onwards.

    The University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) provides an independent forum for informed debate and discussion of European affairs. It is directly involved in promoting research and teaching in European Studies.

  • National Foundation for Educational Research NFER publications
    The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) is a uk based organisation which conducts research into educational policy, the teaching profession and schooling issues in the Uk. Its web site provides access to some of its recent full text reports. Topics covered by this include: educational standards, the role of teachers and the national curriculum.
