Many newspapers have their own home pages on the Internet. However, while they offer free access to daily news, historic content can be limited.
The LSE Library subscribes to a number of newspaper databases which contain large back files.

NEXIS
Contains the full text of a large number of UK and foreign newspapers from 1980 onwards. Set up news alerts

Factiva
Also has extensive English language and foreign coverage. Emphasis upon business and trade news. No news alerts. Note that LSE is trialling this service and only has 5 concurrent log ins. If you see a log in box on the right handside of the screen you are not properly logged in. Try again later!

Latin America Database
Consists of three news digests from the Latin American Institute of the University of New Mexico. SourceMex covers economic and political news and analysis of Mexico, NotiSur political, economic and social issues in South America, NotiCen Central American and Caribbean political and economic affairs, including Cuba. The newsletters are based on many sources from international newswires, Latin American radio broadcasts and selected newspapers, official and non-governmental reports. They are particularly strong on statistics and on human-rights issues. Publication is electronically weekly with each issue available in full on the site. There is also a full text archive searchable by date or keyword of all issues from 1986.

Proquest Historical Newspapers. Includes the full text of the Guardian newspaper 1821-2003 and the Observer 1791-2003. More recent issues can be accessed via NEXIS.

Full text of the famous newspaper. Includes scanned images of photographs and original advertisements.

To look at today's headlines do a Google search and consult the homepage of the newspaper.

But for more in depth academic research always use NEXIS. Connect to it using the links from the Library catalogue. Links from the newspaper homepages and Google searches may not work!
