Current Content alerts

  • A quick way of keeping up to date with the latest articles is to set up a current contents alert. This enables you to automatically receive via email tables of contents from you favourite journal titles as soon as they are published.
  • Zetoc
    An excellent service which enables you to create lists from 1,000s of titles. 
  • Search TV listings using the TRILT database (Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching. It has information on more than 300 TV and radio channels since 1995. It is also possible to set up some autoalerts for forthcoming programmes. Note the library does not routinely record TV programmes.

Finding new research papers

  • Keep up to date with new developments in your field. A good starting point is the ESRC website which is a central funding body for UK research in the social sciences.
  • You might also like to browse the websites of key professional organisations in your subject area. There is a collection of links to the main media associations on our delicious account. Use them to find conference listings and news.
  • Many journal indexes (such as Nexis and Busines ssource premier) enable you to save and return your searches to pick up the most recently added materials. Find out how to do this by consulting our online guide via Moodle.
  • LSE Library Research Blog
    Highlights new online publications . Each week we highlight full text research publications online from UK and some USA think tanks.
  • LSE Research Online
    a collection of research produced by LSE staff. It often contains content which is full text and freely available.
  • OpenDoar
    Allows you to search for papers from repositories around the world. They often include examples of draft and woking papers.
  • Finally you could also monitor some key blogs.
    Mediashift (from PBS) focuses upon the changing nature of journalism in a web 2.0 world.
    Media research hub from the Social Science Research council (USA) highlights new developments.
