Useful websites for Sociology

  • ESRC
    ESRC is the main portal to information from the UK Economic and Social Research Council. It contains the Regard research database plus news on funding and HE developments. Regard is an Internet database which provides information on ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) awards. It includes abstracts of the content of the research and details of any journal articles, seminars or books which have been produced by them. The database can be searched by subject keyword, institution or author.
  • CDSP : Accueil
    entre de Données Socio-Politiques (CDSP) is responsible for archiving and storing social science survey data in France. Its stores include results of national and local elections in France since 1958, EU surveys and survey data on political attitudes and regionalisation in France. The website provides information on the aims and remit of the centre. It includes free access to a catalogue of recent surveys, an increasing number of which can be directly downloaded from the website (after prior registration) These include political barometers (containing data on voting intentions and trends) Observation interrégionale du politique surveys on regional government and regionalisation in France. Most information is offered in French only. "
  • Policy Network - Social Democracy Observatory
    Maintained by the Policy network an international progressive think tank. It aims to act as a platform to provide information about and promote the latest centre-left ideas. Features of the site include original writings and articles by leading social thinkers such as Antony Giddens, online pamphlets published by the Policy Network and an opinion poll tracker giving trends in support and links to the manifestoes of the major social democratic parties in Europe
  • DigiZeitschriften e.V.
    This is a German digital journal archive maintained by a non profit company which specialises in providing access to historical back runs of over a 100 key German language academic and research ejournals online. Subject range includes economics, oriental studies, philosophy, sociology and German history, culture and philosophy. There is generally a 2-5 year moving wall. The majority of titles require a subscription.
  • Information & Library Service - The King's Fund
    The King’s Fund’s Information and Library Service is a unique and free source of information on health and social care policy and management. We can help with literature searches and information queries online, over the phone or in person at our information centre. The King's Fund Database is the online catalogue for the Information and Library service of The King's Fund and is freely available for use by anyone looking for information in the areas we cover. The Library is open to all interested users but please note that we are a Reference Library. •Subjects: policy and management of health and social care services; we do not not cover clinical issues and treatments •Coverage: 1979 to present, and all The King’s Fund publications from 1906 onwards The majority of books and reports before 2001 and journals before 2002 are now held in off-site storage.

    The SocioSite is designed to get access to information and resources which are relevant for sociologists and other social scientists. It has been designed from a global point of view - it gives access to the world wide scene of social sciences. The intention is to provide a comprehensive listing of all sociology resources on the Internet. The enormity and constantly changing nature of the Internet makes it impossible to develop a definitive and comprehensive listing. That's why the SocioSite will always be 'under construction'. The SocioSite is a project based at the faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam.
