If you feel you have special circumstances that may affect your application for accommodation at LSE, please see: Information on priority applications|.

1. What bedding will be provided in my room?

A duvet and pillows are provided in your room, you only need to bring your own bedlinen. The only exceptions are Sidney Webb House| and Lilian Knowles| where all bedding (sheets, blankets, duvets, pillows etc) must be provided by the students.

2. Does my rent include content insurance?

Yes, all term time residents are insured by our block policy with Endsleigh Insurance. Have a look at the wording of our insurance for 2012/13  policy document HH1012| [PDF]. For current residents, the relevant policy document HH1012 |[PDF] is also available. For further details visit the Endsleigh website|.

Please note that there are different arrangements in Lilian Knowles, please visit  Sanctuary Management |for more information.

3. Can you provide storage?

Storage space in the halls is extremely limited. Visit: Storage| for details on your hall and for local private storage options that are closeby.

4. Am I eligible to apply for accommodation at LSE?

You are eligible to apply if you have received a conditional or unconditional offer at the LSE, or if you are a continuing student. Please also see: Applying for accommodation|.

Please use our online application system Hallpad|.

6. What documents do I need to apply?

You will just need your LSE student ID to make your application, this can be found on your LSE offer letter.

7. I submitted my application, when will I hear from you?

Offers will be sent out via email. For current academic year applications we aim to contact you within 2-3 days of receiving the application. For 2012/13 applications we will contact you within 28 days of receiving the application. You can track your application online by using Hallpad,| where you will see any changes to your status.

8. I have a disability, is there anything I need to do?

Please state brief information in the 'Special Circumstances' field on the accommodation application form, also contact the LSE Disability & Wellbeing Office with further details. Also see: Information on priority applications|.

10. Can you tell me my room number before I arrive?

Unfortunately we cannot confirm your room number before you arrive.

11. What is included in my rent?

Gas/Electricity bills, internet, internal phone calls and basic insurance are included. You will be charged a common room fee, and if you possess a Television, you are required by law to purchase a TV license as you won't be covered by the residence.

12. Are there any social activities at the Hall?

There is a Student Hall Committee at every residence, they organise events and activities for residents.

13. What happens if I would like to move out early?

Moving into any of the residences constitutes acceptance of responsibility for fees/rent for the entire academic year. This responsibility will end only if a suitable replacement can be found by the Accommodation Office.

It is very difficult to find replacements for those students wishing to leave shared accommodation, except in the first few weeks of the Michaelmas term, or to find replacements for any students wishing to leave their rooms (single or shared) after the beginning of the Lent term.

For more information visit: Leaving your room early|

14. Can I swap my room once I am there?

Yes, but you will have to search for a student within LSE residences (in a suitable room) to perform such a swap. Unfortunately the Accommodation Office do not maintain a list of students requiring a room-swap, hence cannot assist you in this matter. Please ask for a room swap between residences form at your hall's reception.

For more information visit: Leaving your room early|

15. How many people share a kitchen or bathroom?

It depends on the specific halls of residence, please check the individual residences web pages for further information.

16. I've got a space in a twin room, can you tell me who my room mate will be?

No, unfortunately we can't, due to the Data Protection Act. You will find out when you both move in to the room.

17. How much does it cost to stay in LSE halls?

For an overview of the current rates visit: Fees|.

The residences will contact you directly if they can book you in early. Terms and Conditions| of these bookings can be read here. Please note that you may be allocated to a different room to the one you will be occupying during the Term Time.

19. I don't have a place in halls, can I stay with you while I'm searching for private housing?
