By air and train

From Heathrow

By rail and tube

London Underground (the tube) connects Heathrow directly with central London. This is the cheapest and most convenient method of transport as long as you don't have too much luggage. For Butlers Wharf take the Piccadilly line to South Kensington and change to the District or Circle line eastbound to Tower Hill (approximate journey time of 1 hour 25 minutes).

A faster but more expensive option is the Heathrow Express|. This runs every 15 minutes to Paddington Station. The journey takes about 15 minutes. From Paddington take the Tube to Tower Hill, on the Circle line in either direction (approximately 25 minutes but no changes) or on the District Line via Earls Court.

By bus

National Express run bus services between the terminals and central London. Most go to Victoria from where you can catch the District line to Tower Hill. The trip to Victoria can take up to 1 hour 15 minutes and the trip on the tube is another 20 minutes.

From Gatwick

By rail

We'd recommend First Capital Connect| which runs train services to Bedford via the City (which stop at London Bridge|). Four trains run every hour. London Bridge| is very convenient for Butlers Warf. Otherwise, you could use the Gatwick Express. Trains run approximately every 15 minutes to Victoria. The journey takes about 30 minutes. All trains leave from the South Terminal, but there is a free inter-terminal transit.

By bus

Gatwick Airport is well connected by National Express coach services to the rest of the UK. Speedlink links Gatwick and Heathrow. The Airbus A5 runs to Victoria. from the South Terminal. A transit train runs between the two terminals.

From Victoria

Use the Tube, Circle and District lines to Tower Hill station. Butlers Wharf is on the other side of the river across Tower Bridge. In total this takes about 30 minutes.

From Paddington

London Underground, Circle line (in either direction) or District line via Earls Court can be taken to Tower Hill (to get to Butlers Wharf you need to then cross Tower bridge).

From Waterloo

Use the bus, either the 381 (from York Road) to Tower Bridge Police Station| or the RV1 to Tower Bridge (this stop is on York Road but the opposite side of the road).

From Kings Cross

Take the Northern Line southbound to London Bridge| station.

From Liverpool Street

You can take the Circle line to Tower Hill.

By Taxi

If you've too much luggage to carry easily on and off trains or buses then you might consider a taxi from wherever you are. We recommend using a black cab. For Butlers Wharf ask for 'Gainsford Street, next to the Dean Swift' (that's the local pub).
